Dr Ncediwe Mdlulwa

Lecturer

Dr. Ncediwe Mdlulwa is a lecturer based in the academic staff development cluster in the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She teaches on the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology and several short courses offered through the School of Education and CILT, respectively. Her recent publication explored the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in postgraduate supervision practices and its policy implications for South Africa.

Her research is on AI-generated content and academic authenticity in higher education, including her research on recommending AI Solutions to Strengthen Youth Employability Interventions in South Africa. She endeavours to contribute to enhancing teaching and learning practices in higher education by leveraging AI and innovative approaches, drawing on insights from the Global South. She convenes the Project Management in Learning Design and co-convenes the Design with AI short courses at UCT. She also supervises master’s students within the Educational Technology program at UCT. She is also the manager of the newly established AI in Education Community of Practice that runs within the CILT department at UCT. 

Dr. Mdlulwa holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Johannesburg. Lastly, she also holds qualifications in Disability Studies, Psychology, and Industrial/Organisational Psychology from UCT.
