What is Amathuba Accelerate?
Amathuba Accelerate is CILT’s initiative to enhance course design and teaching through UCT’s digital learning ecosystem. It aims to improve student success by integrating innovative, evidence-based digital tools and strategies. The pilot phase will focus on large first-year or undergraduate courses, collaborating with lecturers to co-design targeted interventions that address key teaching and learning challenges while aligning with faculty and institutional priorities.

How does it work?
You bring a teaching challenge — we bring our expertise in the platform, data-informed insights, and the ENABLE framework for accessible course design. Together, we co-create tailored solutions that integrate thoughtful pedagogy, purposeful use of digital tools, and staff development opportunities to strengthen teaching practice and support student success.
The Process

We can assist with teaching challenges, such as:
- Promoting inclusive blended learning strategies (using ENABLE);
- Enhancing the use of platform tools to support engagement, course management and course design;
- Supporting assessment design or redesign processes;
- Providing learning platform data and insights to inform teaching, course/programme management, student success etc.; and
- Building capacity within teaching teams.
How we support lecturers
- In-depth consultations;
- Course design guidance;
- Bespoke training;
- Referrals to other CILT services;
- Course site reports with actionable recommendations;
- Limited hands-on setup of course sites; and
- Monitoring and evaluation.
