The Vice Chancellor’s OER Adaptation Project was comprised of one student coordinator and five student facilitators who were appointed to work with academics at UCT in order to convert traditional teaching materials in the Humanities, Commerce, Science, and Engineering and the Built Environment Faculties to open educational resources and grow the UCT open content collection.

This project received additional funding in 2015 and changed in nature in order to include collaboration with UCT Libraries. Within this context, CILT ran training workshops for UCT librarians on open education and open content. The project also had some funds for continuing advocacy work through organising events and administering small OER grants.

The student coordinator on this project, Thomas King, produced a Master’s thesis on the topic of student roles in adapting resources in collaboration with academics at UCT based on his work in the initiative.
