A scholarly approach to teaching and learning underpins CILT work. Many CILT staff undertake research either individually, collaboratively, within and outside of UCT, as part of a broader research project or through postgraduate studies.
Our research aims to broaden understandings of teaching and learning in higher education. Some recent research topics include:
-
aspects of open education including use and adoption of open educational resources, digital open textbooks and case studies in open learning
-
experiences and engagement of participants in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
-
aspects of being an academic including academics’ experiences and identities and experience of teaching
-
social justice in higher education
-
online communities and conferences
-
unbunded higher education provision
-
students’ experiences of emergency remote teaching
