Lauren Butler
Lauren works with academic staff to design engaging, effective and inclusive online and blended learning experiences. She supports teaching teams in translating disciplinary expertise into well-structured courses and collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality online programmes from initial concepts and scoping through to delivery.
Her role includes coordinating course development projects to ensure timelines, budgets, and production processes are managed effectively. She works primarily with the Science, Engineering & the Built Environment, and Health Sciences faculties, providing guidance on course design, accessibility and the effective use of Amathuba to support both teaching teams and students.

Lauren offers one-on-one consultations and facilitates workshops on equitable blended course design, accessible materials development, and optimising Amathuba for different teaching contexts.
Lauren holds an undergraduate degree in Humanities from Stellenbosch University, with majors in Psychology and Sociology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies. She is currently completing a Master’s in Educational Technology, with research focused on how participation in ENABLE framework-based professional development influences lecturers’ knowledge, confidence and implementation of equitable blended learning practices.
