We invite you to join our foundational tutor training workshop designed specifically for novice tutors.

This workshop prepares you to be an effective tutor by exploring your multifaceted role in the academic ecosystem. You will learn how to facilitate learning for diverse students, support them through academic transitions and challenges, and create inclusive tutorial environments that acknowledge multilingualism and varied student preparedness for university. The workshop emphasizes practical facilitation strategies for both small groups and individual students, while equipping you with approaches to informal assessment and supporting students with their formal assessments.

The following will be discussed

  • Your role as a tutor (academic, psycho-social, mentoring, and HR aspects);
  • Understanding students in higher education (diversity, transitions, and student needs);
  • Effective pedagogies for tutorials (facilitation strategies and connecting to course content); and
  • Assessment approaches and student support.

Interactive sessions combining expert input with small group activities, practical application exercises, and access to ongoing resources and a tutor community through our online platforms.
