Dr Jade Smith
Jade is a Learning Designer at CILT, in the STEM team, where she supports the design and development of blended and online courses. Her work focuses on creating clear, inclusive and engaging learning environments, with a strong emphasis on digital accessibility.
She provides practical support to academic staff through consultations on course and assessment design, accessible materials development, and the effective use of the UCT learning management system. Her approach centres on enhancing student learning experiences through equitable access and inclusive course design.

Jade holds a PhD in linguistics, a degree in journalism, and a PGCE. Her research has been published in local and international journals. Jade has over a decade of teaching experience across university, TVET, and high school contexts. In 2024, she received an institutional award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning as a lecturer at the Durban University of Technology in recognition of her innovative curriculum design.
