Diann Selman
Diann Selman is a Blended Learning Designer at CILT, where she supports the development of accessible, inclusive, and high-quality e-learning and hybrid learning experiences. She works closely with academic teams and subject matter experts to translate learning needs into coherent course designs — from initial scoping and curriculum alignment through pedagogic strategies, course build, quality assurance, and post-launch support.
Diann holds a Master's degree from UCT, complemented by international scholastic experiences that shaped her interests in higher education and socio-cultural impacts on learning. Her extensive background — spanning the gamut from tutor and head tutor to teaching assistant and convenor — was the impetus for a profession in developing tailored, deliberately scaffolded, and purposeful curricula and learning design outputs.
Her practice is grounded in established course and curriculum design methodologies (Constructive Alignment, Backward Design), pedagogical frameworks (Integrated Curriculum Design, Inquiry-Based Learning), and CILT's UDL-based ENABLE framework, with a strong focus on accessibility, equity, and student-centred design. Her professional interests include effective and inclusive digital learning design, translanguaging, educational technology, and the ethical integration of AI in higher education amidst its rapidly evolving challenges and opportunities.
