Lauren Butler
Lauren works with academic staff to design engaging, effective and inclusive online and blended learning experiences. Her role includes coordinating course development projects to ensure timelines, budgets, and production processes are managed effectively. In coordinating the creation of online programmes, she collaborates with cross-functional teams throughout the project, from the initial concepualisation and scoping, through to delivery.
She also works with teaching teams from the Science, Engineering & the Built Environment, and Health Sciences faculties (STEM), providing guidance on course design, accessibility, and the effective use of Amathuba. She collaborates with teaching teams in translating disciplinary expertise into well-structured courses, activities, and assessments.

Lauren offers one-on-one consultations to optimise Amathuba for different teaching contexts and facilitates workshops and webinars on equitable blended course design, accessible materials development, and creating inclusive course sites on Amathuba.
Lauren holds an undergraduate degree in Humanities from Stellenbosch University, with majors in Psychology and Sociology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies. She is currently completing a Master’s in Educational Technology, with research focused on operationalising the ENABLE framework and TEDDIE process by incorporating agentic AI workflows into the learning design process.
