Dr Cheng-Wen Huang

Senior Lecturer

Cheng-Wen Huang is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) at the University of Cape Town. She teaches on the Postgraduate Diploma in Blended and Online Learning Design programme and contributes to projects related to assessment, course evaluation and the use of generative AI in higher education.

Her research interests include multimodal social semiotics, argumentation, academic literacies, digital literacies, assessment and social justice. Her work explores how multimodal approaches can deepen understanding of communication, meaning-making and learning within higher education contexts.

Cheng-Wen holds a PhD in Education from UCT. Her doctoral research examined the possibilities of adopting a multimodal approach to academic argument. Her publications and scholarly contributions can be viewed on Google Scholar.
